What It’s Really Like For Parents Working From Home Full-Time While Also Educating Children

Like many firms around the country with remote work capabilities, we transitioned all our staff to a work-from home situation when coronavirus struck. We moved quickly to ensure the safety of our staff, and sent out tech care packages to all of our employees to make sure they had everything they needed for a comfortable and effective remote work setup, and at the same time we built a COVID-19 resource page for our clients.

Many members of our team, including me, also have children who are home from school during this challenging time — and much like us, our kids have also been told they’ll need to “work from home,” via a virtual learning experience. I had no idea what to expect going in, but after a few days, I realized just how demanding these lessons were going to be, and how much attention they would require.

After speaking to many other working parents, it occurred to me that we are all struggling with this “new normal,” and I knew we could all use a good laugh. I decided to throw together a more realistic schedule of what working parents are really dealing with as they balance working from home and homeschooling. We’re all going through a lot right now, and I think it helps to remember to support one another whenever we can — and not forget to laugh!
